The Association of German Metal Traders and Recyclers (VDM) announces a closer strategic cooperation with Svenska Järn, aimed at strengthening collaboration and joint representation at the European level.
As part of this cooperation, a Nordic working group will be established to enhance continuous dialogue and information exchange. “By deepening our cooperation and establishing structured dialogue, we are laying the foundation for a long-term partnership that strengthens the recycling industry across Europe” says Murat Bayram, President of the Association of German Metal Traders and Recyclers (VDM).
Together, VDM and Svenska Järn will work towards:
- The continuous advancement of the recycling industry
- Environmental and climate protection, as well as sustainability
- Free and fair global trade conditions
VDM underlines that protectionist measures and excessive state intervention distort markets and are not conducive to a strong and innovative recycling sector. Such approaches are therefore clearly rejected.
The Nordic working group will meet regularly to share information, align positions, and contribute to a more coordinated and effective industry dialogue. This ongoing cooperation will strengthen the collective voice of the recycling industry at both the Nordic and European levels.
“This cooperation is an important step forward and gives us a stronger, more unified voice — something that is urgently needed in today’s European policy landscape” says Elinor Feuer, President of Svenska Järn.
To support these shared objectives, VDM will cooperate closely with Svenska Järn wherever appropriate. In particular, in European-level policy discussions and initiatives, both associations will coordinate their positions and present joint statements. These will be issued under the names and logos of both organizations, reflecting a common stance on key industry issues.
This strengthened cooperation highlights VDM’s commitment to a competitive, sustainable, and open European recycling industry.
