Speakers and delegates from all over the world will debate innovation and market developments and ongoing challenges in the electronics recycling sector worldwide.

The International Electronics Reuse and Recycling Congress, IERC 2026, will open in the Palacio de Congresos in Valencia on 21st January 2026. The congress, organised by ICM, the international leader in circular economy congresses, brings together the most influential actors from the entire electronics recycling value chain every year to discuss the key issues concerning the industry. This is the first time this industry, one of the fastest growing in Spain, will be held here.

The congress will be opened by Vicente Martinez Mus, vice-president of the Valencian Regional Government (Vicepresidente Tercero y Conseller de Medio Ambiente, Infraestructuras, Territorio y de la Recuperación).

The congress is also supported by the Spanish organisation Recyclia, the leader on the Spanish market for the collection and recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.

The first keynote speech delivered by Brian Markwalter of the US Comsumer Technology Association, CTA, will take the delegates into the fascinating world of the electronics of the future, exploring the new developments and trends, including the transformative impact of AI, and how evolving demand and innovations are shaping the industry.

The second keynote speech is from Madrid-based company AFI, Analistas Financieros Internacionales, the leading Spanish company in independent advice, consultancy and training in economics, finance and technology.

Over two full days the speakers and delegates from all over the world will debate innovation and market developments and ongoing challenges in the electronics recycling sector worldwide. The busy exhibition area will host business meetings and demonstrations of technology and expertise with lively tech talks.

On Friday 23rd January exclusive plant visits have been negotiated by ICM for delegates to two very different companies: Ilunion, part of the Once group, is opening the doors to its fridge recycling plant in Campo Real near Madrid, and Aimplas, the leading technology centre in the plastics industry, who will give delegates the opportunity to visit Sophia – an EU-funded Horizon Europe project to implement advanced digital solutions to increase the circularity of PV panels in Valencia.

There will also be a workshop on ESG and Electronics Recycling: ESG Reporting.
Delegates will meet to do business in a dynamic and welcoming environment and will experience ICM’s famous hospitality and professional organisation, including a fabulous networking dinner at the Las Arenas hotel by the beach, and.
