Tana Oy named Main Contractor of the Year 2025

The Finnish Association of Purchasing and Logistics, LOGY ry, has granted the awards for the 2025 Main Contractor and Subcontractor of the Year. The recognitions were announced on September 30, 2025, at the opening of the Subcontracting Fair at Tampere Sports & Expo.

Environmental technology company Tana Oy has outsourced the assembly of its machines to independent subcontractors. These subcontractors also play an active role in product development by contributing ideas and providing continuous feedback. This partnership- and long-term cooperation-based operating model requires great trust and openness but, at the same time, enables Tana to operate efficiently and grow globally without owning its own production facility.

Founded in 1971, Tana has developed into a growth company whose machines are now exported through authorized distributors to over 50 countries. Expanding its product range, growing its distribution network, and entering markets directly are key means by which the company seeks to achieve its goals: a growth leap and a strengthened international position. Earlier this year, Tana reinforced its global presence by acquiring its long-term distributor in Australia as a subsidiary.

“This recognition of our long-standing and exceptional business model based on outsourced
production means a lot to us. Together with our partners, we have built transparent cooperation based on openness, continuous dialogue, and joint development. It has proven to be a successful path – and this award shows we have been heading in the right direction,” says Jari Mennala, CEO of Tana Oy.

Mari Horttonen, Tana Oy’s VP Manufacturing & Supply Chain, also emphasizes the importance of collaboration: “Our network of partners is absolutely vital to Tana’s success. They not only make the manufacturing of these great machines possible but also their delivery all around the world. A shared goal and commitment to quality make our cooperation truly unique.”

“Tana has systematically built a strategic subcontracting-based business model. A clear growth plan, a strong operational foundation, and a responsible way of working provide the company with excellent conditions for international success,” concludes Janne Lehtimäki, Chair of LOGY’s Subcontracting Award Committee.
