Rockville, Maryland, USA — The average US person generates close to 4.5 pounds of trash per day, unfortunately only about one fourth of it is actually recycled. Last year, Fitzgerald Auto Malls recycled 81 percent of solid waste generated at Fitzgerald dealerships, which is more than twice the national average for businesses.

Past year Fitzgerald have received the Eco-Friendly Dealer Award for Fitzgerald Subaru Rockville, the Eco-Friendly Dealer Award for Fitzgerald Subaru Gaithersburg, the 2014 Maryland Green Registry Leadership Award and the City of Gaithersburg 2014 Environmental Award

Fitzgerald Auto Malls is the first automotive dealership group in North America to become ISO 14001 certified, the global standard for Environmental Management Systems, and considered the highest recognition available for quality management with a focus on the environment. Fitzgerald has an environmental team that works to evaluate the company’s environmental policy, objectives and ongoing progress on a regular basis.

It is the first dealership group to become an EPA Green Power Partner Member of the EPA Green Power Leadership Club and a long-standing member of the Clean Energy Partnership in Maryland. All energy at Fitzgerald facilities is purchased from Green renewable energy sources, with 100 percent wind power used at all of the dealerships in Maryland. The Germantown Maryland dealership is the first LEED Gold certified dealership east of the Mississippi.

Through commitment and hard work, Fitzgerald Auto Malls has proven to the community and to other local businesses that it is entirely possible to run an organization that is both successful and eco-friendly.
