Untha’s XR mobil-e shredder to continue 20,000 km tour through Europe

Kuchl, Austria — Since the innovative XR mobil-e shredder was first unveiled to the market last summer, the technology has been on a European ‘tour’. The world’s first electric-drive mobile shredder has been trialled by dozens of RDF, SRF and biomass specialists in countries including Austria, the UK, and Norway, to name just a few. And, due to popular demand, this vast European roadshow is set to continue, with trials planned for Germany, Italy, the UK and more, over the coming months.

Commenting on the 20,000km trip that the XR mobil-e has taken to date, Untha’s product manager Christoph Lahnsteiner said: “When we revealed our all new XR in 2014, the level of worldwide interest was phenomenal. In only six months we received orders totalling 5.000.000 €, from customers eager to minimise their capital expenditure through the procurement of one single-step SRF shredder. So, after months of behind-the-scenes development with the mobile version of this highly-acclaimed machine, we anticipated that the demand would be equally as great.“

The XR mobil-e was first demonstrated to the public at the renowned IFAT event in Munich, this May. Almost 100 delegates from more than 15 countries participated in one of the six 3-hour round-trips to nearby waste specialist Breitsamer Entsorgung, to see the shredder in action. The machine’s high throughputs, low noise and foreign object protection received great praise, along with its ease of maintenance, low operating costs and energy efficiency. Since IFAT, the XR mobil-e has been on trial in both Austria and Germany. In fact, demand has been so high, that a second demonstration unit has had to be built.“

Christoph continued: “Of course we will say that the machine is fantastic, and that it outperforms competitors. But sometimes, seeing is believing, which is why the roadshow has proven so popular. Trials to date have revealed throughputs as high as 70 tonnes per hour, foreign object removal in minutes and machine reconfiguration to handle completely different material streams in as little as two hours.”
