Ratingen, Germany — Doosan Lentjes has announced that its Chinese licensee XZT, a subsidiary of Zhongtian Environmental Protection Group, has been awarded a contract to design and build a new 100t/d hazardous waste incineration plant in Nantong, China, based on Doosan Lentjes’ rotary kiln technology. Doosan Lentjes will provide engineering support to the project.
Once complete the new plant will be owned and operated by Nantong SITA Waste Services Ltd, a Suez Environnement-led joint venture with Nantong Economic Technology and Development Area Cy and Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Investment Cy Ltd.. Doosan Lentjes’ rotary kiln technology will help reduce the need for landfill, thus minimising the ecological impact of the hazardous waste treatment. In addition, the steam produced during incineration will be used to provide a clean energy source for several industrial applications — essential for meeting the increasing energy demand generated by China’s rapid industrial growth.
Commenting on the project, Gerhard Lohe, Director Sales, Doosan Lentjes, said: „This hazardous waste incineration project is the sixth of its kind under Doosan Lentjes’ licence agreement with XZT. It further emphasises the Chinese government’s resolute determination to meet current challenges in terms of establishing an adequate waste management infrastructure that helps bring it in line with international efficiency and environmental standards.”
